Paris police 1900 season 1

Paris 1899. The French president has just died, and crippled by the far right, antisemitic groups and rising anarchy, the country has never appeared so weak. When police chief Louis Lepine (Marc Barbe, Captain Marleau and La Vie En Rose) is urgently called out of retirement to restore order in Paris, the shocking discovery of a young woman’s torso in a suitcase floating down the Seine spurs the young and ambitious Detective Jouin (Jeremie Laheurte, Maroni) into action. The Paris police headquarters is rife with corruption including Officer Joseph Fiersi (Thibaut Evrard, The Tunnel and Borgia) who’s no stranger to blackmail and who also moonlights as a hitman for the undercover police. He’s taken particular interest in this criminal investigation and coerces Meg Steinheil (Evelyne Brochu, Cafe de Flore, Orphan Black), the courtesan accused of killing the frail president during their tryst, to work as a spy for him. In Paris, where crime an sin mix with opulence and puritanism, all the characters will cross paths and join forces to save France.
